Lynn Bridges Memorial Award

The Lynn Bridges Memorial Award scholarship, established in 1999 by Videmus in honor of Dr. Lynn Bridges, is presented annually to a student attending the University of Michigan who shows excellence and integrity in their musical pursuits. The award is intended to be an incentive for future minority educators and to ensure that the legacy of Dr Bridges will continue through the next generation of musican/educators.

The Edgar A. Toppin Memorial Award

The Edgar A. Toppin Memorial Award was established in 2004 to honor the legacy of Videmus board member and noted historian, Dr. Edgar Toppin.  The purpose of the award is to encourage education, scholarship and research through special projects.

Wisdom from Afar – William Brown

This publication of sayings recorded on the answering machine of Videmus long-time supporter, board member and opera singer the late William Brown.  Delightful sayings that make you chuckle such as “Why are they called apartments when they are stuck together” are compiled into a book.  We honor Bill’s memory by using the proceeds of this book to support unusual recording or performance projects and making a donation to the Bill Brown scholarship at Jackson State University.
