SUBMISSION

Guidelines for submitting recordings to Videmus Records

Videmus Records considers the submission of two types of projects.  First, projects that are in the final stage of completion that desire commercial distribution and secondly, projects that are in the idea/planning stage.  All projects must reflect the mission of Videmus,:

a non-profit arts organization committed to educational and collaborative projects on the repertoire of African American, Women and under-represented composers through the promotion and production of recordings, concerts and other programs.

Projects that do not fit the mission will be rejected. The sender will be notified promptly of acceptance/rejection after the project is reviewed and voted upon by the directors of Videmus Recordings.  Projects will be accepted for submission from
January 1-April 1
for consideration the following calendar year.  Please do not send submissions other times during the year.  You will receive notification re: the acceptance of your project by May 30th.

How to submit?

  1. To have a recording considered, submit one copy of the edited recording, include timing and a brief summary of the scope and focus of the project.  Recordings not accepted will be returned to the submitter.  Send projects to:

    Videmus
    PO Box 2033
    Greenville, NC 27836

    Email all questionsto videmus@suddenlink.net

  2. Download this PDF checklist.
Completed projects that are accepted must then submit the mastered copy, and provide liner notes, photographs, artwork and all information for the booklet. Please do not submit partially completed materials. Send projects along with completed checklist to:

    Videmus

  3. Projects that are in the initiation/planning stage must submit plans that include a detailed project description, list of repertoire, brief composer and artist bios, timetable, and budget (including sources of funding).  Sample scores or readings of the works must accompany the proposal.  If accepted, Videmus may work with you on grant possibilities.

  4. We provide an estimated target date for release but cannot guarantee that the exact date.

Cost?

If your project is accepted, the cost to you is $1500.00 made payable to Videmus, which covers the cost of graphic design and the administration of the project.  We assume the cost of printing, packaging and marketing once your project is accepted.  This amount is due upon acceptance of the project.
